Description: This Franz Mueller
violin outfit is a great mid-range instrument for
parents and students who are looking for a violin that
sounds good, but at a price that doesn't break the
bank.
This violin features a graduated solid spruce top with
maple back and sides. It also has maple pegs and bridge
and an ebony fingerboard. Each violin comes fully set up
by a member of the MusicForKids staff. Although, to minimize tension on the neck,
we do not tune it.
The outfit includes the violin, bow, brick of rosin, and
case.
We highly recommend taking lessons, and at the very
least checking out the book offered with this
product. Violin is a difficult instrument to master
without instruction!
Advice for parents
Sizing:
To check for proper fit, measure the distance from the
child's neck to the middle of the palm with the left arm
outstretched to the side. If it measures 23 inches or
longer, the full-size violin is the right size.
General sizing guidelines to the middle of the palm
are as follows:
- 4/4 violin for 23 1/2"
- 3/4 violin for 22 1/4"
- 1/2 violin for 20 1/2"
- 1/4 violin for 18 1/2"
This translates to general age guidelines which are:
- ages 4-7 use a 1/4 size
- ages 6-10 use a 1/2 size
- ages 9-11 use a 3/4 size
- ages 10-12 and up use a full size (4/4)
